I actually set up a cheap tree stand a foot off the ground in pike County Illinois in 2014. Just to have a place to sit and be able to move my feet without making noise. Shot a 134 inch buck that was bedded 15 yards from me at 10am. I walked within 10 feet of it going to the stand at 0545am and it never spooked. I had no idea it was there until it stood up. I was completely exposed. No blind, no cover. I almost had a heart attack trying to drag it to the road. The land owner took mercy and brought out his front loader. As I arrived to the butcher in Quincy, the local news was there. They ran up to me when they saw the rack hanging out the back of my truck. I made the news that night. European mount is on my frontroom wall. Great memories. Ill be in the U.P. Nov 15th, but the way things look, ill never bag anything that big.
