Angle Aluminum Framing
In this video I will show you the simplest way I know how to install a floor in your jon boat. Very simple. Very easy. DIY friendly!
A customer dropped off his 15ft #trackerboats Topper with #brigadeboats and had a few requests. 1) add a bit more storage. I accomplished that with my last video, Turn Your Jon Boat Bench Into Storage. 2) add a floor system, #jonboattobassboat style! That’s what I will show you in this video!
The customer wanted a budget friendly floor to provide a good place for his young son to venture through out the boat during a day on the water. Jon boat aluminum hulls get hot and dangerous for kids, let alone adults tripping over the ribs! There is a solution! I will show you mine in this video.
To add a jon boat floor the simple way, I show in this video step by step. I’ll show all materials and tools needed. I’ll show you my process with some tips and tricks along the way. Take what you can away from it and improve upon the design if you see fit! I hope this video is of some service to you.
Talking to you on camera helps me not talk to the voices inside my head. Thanks for watching, hope this helps someone with their project!

Anthony, grab some fiber blades. It’s a life changer on a chop saw.
Only thing I would’ve done different on yourself tapping screws is I like those beauty washers
I like the way you speed through the long processing and you did a good job on explaining I’ve done a lot of boats in my ears but it’s always good to watch out other people and other ideas thank you
Blains Farm and Fleet has gallon Bondo Resin for $49.00 a gallon and $7.00 shipping flat rate . My 1 gallon just arrived and was slightly dented but made the journey./ Hardner was included………………Keep on Jon Boating in the Free World !!!
One Of The Best Budget Friendly Videos On Boat Floor Builds ! I Was A Little Nervous On Self Taping Screws But They Looked Great After They We’re Applied. And Yes I To Cross The Street for Good Deals At Lowes And Home Depot ! Going To Use Your Method Because I Don’t Want To Remove My Bench Seats And Saving Money On A Fixed Income Is A Must ! New Subscriber Thanks Very Much
I hope this was not treated lumber because that will rot that aluminum out real fast
I wouldn't even put carpet over it, just leave it simple board
Don't some of those benches have foam inside? The floor looks great…
Other than looks. What the purpose of. It Toby out the rib notches?
What kind of ply wood is that? Treated or marine?
This doesn't look simple. My idea of simple is plopping a rubber mat in my Jon boat and done. Will see if my idea works though! Thanks for video.😀
👍
I find fiberglass resin can get brittle and crack. I like epoxy all day and twice on Sunday.
make styrofome tight glue down never have to used wood save money and weight in boat
Your hands let me know you’ve fucked up enough to know what you’re talking about. Cool video.
Won’t the boat collect water without drain holes cut into each seat so water can flow aft.
Hey Cousin! Having recently inherited a 16ft jon boat, I've been studying your amazing mod techniques! How did you handle the carpet folds on the rib notches? Folding, cutting, both? I've seen your videos on carpeting inside and outside corners, but this is different. Love your work!
You actually did this nicely, you utilized the benches and kept the same space seen countless vids of people adding decks which is cool but also swapping there space for convenience great job
How could I locate someone in Dallas Ft Worth TX area to do a similar floor project in a 14’ vee aluminum StarCraft fishing boat?
For it to last why don't you seal both sides of your plywood
Looks great
